Extending Our Reach to Give Back
GivingTuesday is a global movement dedicated to generosity, harnessing the power of people and organizations to make a difference in their communities and the world. Established in 2012, GivingTuesday began as a simple idea: a day to encourage acts of kindness and goodwill. Over the past eleven years, it has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon that inspires hundreds of millions to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Acts of generosity can take many forms, whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger, supporting a cause we care about, or sharing resources with those in need. Every act counts, and everyone has something to give. GivingTuesday aims to foster a society where the transformative power of generosity is central, unlocking dignity, opportunity, and equity across the globe.
Partners In Ministry (PIM) provides vital support and empowerment services to women, children, and youth in Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland Counties. Their programs focus on breaking cycles of poverty, hunger, and housing insecurity by ensuring access to safe housing and food, while also promoting education, job readiness, and community connections.
SYSTEM (Strengthening Youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is a year-round after-school and summer program that provides a safe, structured learning environment for at-risk students in grades 3 through 8 who need assistance in improving their academic performance in reading and math.
The YES (Youth Empowered to Succeed) program is aimed at at-risk youth aged 13 to 24 facing challenges like school dropouts, literacy issues, homelessness, and difficulty finding jobs. The YES program offers three pathways: pursuing a two-year or four-year education, enlisting in the military, or entering the workforce.
The Rehab Outreach & Recovery (ROAR) program promotes a safe and healthy living environment for families in the counties, particularly elderly individuals, disabled persons, veterans, single parents, and low-income households. It addresses urgent safety hazards in housing and provides necessary repairs to prevent displacement.
The Partners In Ministry Upward Bound program is part of a nationwide initiative that offers vital support for college preparation. As the first program of its kind in Scotland County, it aims to nurture and empower youth and families, promoting self-sufficiency and healthy communities.
